Road to iift executive post graduate programs....Part 3

Form Filling Guidance:
IIFT releases the advertisement for the admission to the course during May/June months every year. During this period the application form and brochure are available both as soft and hard copy. Where soft copy can be obtained from the online website www.iift.edu , offline brochure has to be obtained from the IIFT campus.
IIFT receives huge no of applications every year where the first level of screening is done from the application forms submitted by the applicants. The application form has several important and decisive questions that determine your purpose and interest to pursue the course.
Some of these important questions are listed as under:
·         Brief description of job profile.
·         Major achievement from your professional experience
·         Broad career objectives and how does IIFT fit in these objectives
·         Your important strengths in the context of your application for admission to IIFT’s programme
·         Expectations  to learn from your fellow participants at IIFT

Based upon the responses and the application form submitted the applicants are screened and called for next rounds of Essay Writing, Group Discussions and Personal Interviews.

Experience on the Essay Writing/Group Discussion/Personal Interview:

I had got an email from IIFT nearly a month before the Interview date. I reached IIFT, Delhi Campus by auto well before time. After reaching IIFT, I was easily able to identify the hall where essay writing was scheduled. Thanks to the properly marked signage.  Essay writing was an easy task. A topic was written on the board on which the applicants had to write an essay in 200 words.
As soon as everyone finished the essay writing, applicants were moved to already allocated groups in different discussion/conference halls. A topic was announced and everyone was given 5 minutes to think. After 5 minutes the discussion was opened up and everyone started speaking. Some applicants were very excited and were not allowing others to speak, whereas some of others were calm and awaiting their turn. I was also waiting for my turn and found a good moment where I placed my view to the group. After a long discussion of 25 minutes the discussion ended with a conclusion. One of those persons who were calm was given the opportunity to conclude.

After the GD, we gathered in the common hall to wait for our turn for the personal interview. One by one the applicants were called for the interview. My interview went quite smooth. The interview panel asked me for my job profile and the questions asked in application form were again repeated. The questions such as why do you want to do this course?, How would this course benefit you etc. were asked. The panel also checked the job profile and interest in the programme. After the personal interview we were asked to leave.

The results were declared within 45 days after the interview on the IIFT website. I was very happy to see my name in the selected participants.

Average count of selected candidates

Every year nearly 2500 applications are received by IIFT. Out of these only 10 percent applicants are called for next rounds. The next rounds are conducted and the final lists usually have only 120 selected participants.

However, if we still have to define an industry, then, trade and export and import houses are the most closely related as one portion of the course develops the international trade skills in the participants. Student Feedback:
This program is designed with a deep thought process & its focus was not “read & reproduce” but making ourselves more competitive. The program director & the faculties allocated to this program had all the real & impressive practical experience which made the subject more acceptable to us in its theoretical form. It was real fun when we sat in a virtual class room.
